Commercial painters and decorators

GSD painting and decorating is specialised in commercial painting and decorating in London and The South East. As one of London’s premier painting and decorating contractor, we have been asked to undertake a huge project: Painting The Olympic Stadium. Floor painting to be more precise.

The Olympic Stadium is situated in Stratford, East London, in the Queen Elizabeth Park. It has been constructed for the 2012 Olympic Games. It took approximately 5 years of construction before the games began. The design has been defined as a “sustainable development” for the area and London itself. It as well has been nominated for the 2012 Stirling Prize in architecture!
After the games, the stadium had two bids from the famous football teams: Tottenham Hotspur and WestHam United. As you probably heard, West Ham was accepted and will start playing when the Olympic Stadium will re-open after its renovations.

The construction of the Olympic Park helped to the plan of development of Hackney Wick area, in East London. The area is well known for its artistic community that came over the years living in Wharehouses because of a cheaper price. However, with the Olympic Stadium construction and the facilites the area provides nowadays, the housing prices starts increasing as well.

As we said, The Olympic Stadium is at the moment being renovated to be able to welcome 60 000 people and the West Ham Football Team. This is why GSD Painting and Decorating has been called. With our highly skilled painters and decorators, we were ready to accept this enthusiastic opportunity.

Working on behalf of the Dodd Group , GSD Painting were contracted as specialist floor painters to prepare and paint all kitchen service and preperation area floors through out the famous stadium getting ready for the arrival of West Ham to the ground.

At GSD Painting we offer a specialist floor painting service and have tested many different floor paints for quality and durability. Please check out our previous blog post where we compare three different paints used at the British Library in Kings Cross central London during their floor painting.

Over a 2 month period we were contracted to paint over 30 different areas of the stadium. To ensure smooth operation, a dedicated project manager from GSD was responsible for delivery, communicating with the client site team to deliver first class results.
