We were appointed by Hill Group to carry out the interior decoration of 38 affordable homes on a new-build scheme at Douglas Bader Estate. The package was the finishing decoration to those interiors, brought up to a handover standard so the homes could be passed to residents.

The same specification has to land the same way in every home, and each one has to be clean enough to hand over. Douglas Bader Estate was a new-build interior package, not a refurbishment of occupied homes. The constraint was the build, not residents already in the rooms. Other trades are still moving through a scheme like this while decoration starts, so the work is sequenced home by home: a plot is ready when the substrate is ready, and it is finished when it can be handed over.

Surfaces were prepared and decorated to the specified finish, and we stayed with a home until it was clean enough for residents rather than pushing on and leaving a trail of incomplete rooms.
