We decorated 238 new-build apartments at Hershall Street for Click Properties, finishing the residences so they could be handed over.
Two hundred and thirty-eight apartments is commercial painting and decorating at residential volume — the same handover work we take across London and the South East.
We were appointed by Click Properties to decorate 238 apartments on a new-build scheme at Hershall Street. The package was the interior decoration of those residences: the finishing trade through the flats before handover.
Two hundred and thirty-eight apartments is a volume job, and volume is only useful if the last flat looks like the first. Repeatability is the test. The same specification has to land the same way across the block, snags have to be closed as you go, and the contractor has to be able to hand over residences rather than a decorating site that still needs another pass. That is what we were there to deliver.

On a scheme of this size the risk is drift. One part of the scheme gets ahead, another waits on making-good, and the finish starts to vary apartment by apartment. We worked the apartments as repeatable units. A flat was prepared, decorated and closed out as a residence, not left as a half-finished shell while the gang moved on. That is how you protect the specification when the count is in the hundreds.
Handover on new-build apartments is unforgiving. A resident, a selling agent or a clerk of works will walk the same rooms we walked, and they will see every miss. We treated inspection as part of the work, not as a surprise at the end. Surfaces were finished to the specified standard, edges were kept clean, and we returned to apartments that were not ready rather than arguing they were close enough. Volume does not excuse a short finish.
We also stayed inside the facts of this appointment. This was decoration of 238 apartments for handover — not a fit-out of communal areas we were not appointed to, and not a refurbishment of homes already lived in. The job is the residences. Getting 238 of them across the line, looking like they belong to the same building, is the whole of the work.
