Window overhaul, Repair Care timber repairs and decoration at The Wellington Hotel, London, for Ellmer Construction — commercial decorating.
We were appointed by Ellmer Construction to overhaul and decorate the windows at The Wellington Hotel. The package was external window work on a hotel: window overhauls, Repair Care timber repairs, and decoration, delivered so the elevations could take weather and ordinary hotel use once the work was finished.
Hotel window overhaul in London is commercial painting and decorating on a live elevation — work we take across London and the South East.
Hotel window work is judged on the elevation and on whether the building still reads as a hotel. The overhaul has to put the timber right, the Repair Care has to make damaged wood sound, and the decoration has to sit even across repaired and existing frames. That is the job we took on for Ellmer Construction at The Wellington Hotel.
The Wellington Hotel is a hotel. Our work was window overhauls, Repair Care timber repairs and decoration, delivered for Ellmer Construction. We overhauled the windows, repaired the timber that needed Repair Care, and decorated the window work so the elevations read as one hotel, not as a patch of new work against a patch of old.
A window overhaul is not a paint-only job. Windows that have moved, stuck or decayed have to be put back into working order before decoration will hold. Repair Care is the timber repair: decayed or damaged wood made good so the window can take a finish, rather than painted over and left to fail. The decoration then has to cover repaired and existing timber as one elevation, so the hotel does not show a patch of new work against a patch of old.
We worked as decorating and window-repair subcontractor to Ellmer Construction. Access, deliveries and working areas were arranged around the main contractor's programme. We protected the elevations and the ground below as we went, and snagged as we finished so making-good did not become a second visit after the windows were supposed to be closed out.
A hotel elevation is seen from the street and from guest rooms. The window work has to be even, the repairs have to disappear under the decoration, and the site has to be left clean. We treated The Wellington Hotel as a hotel throughout: contained working areas, tidy access, and a finish that can take weather once the windows go back into ordinary use.
We worked on a hotel building for Ellmer Construction. Access and working areas were arranged around the main contractor's sequence, not around a vacant elevation we could take as one empty face. Where we carried out Repair Care and decoration, we protected the openings and the ground below so repair material and paint stayed on the windows.
A hotel cannot be treated like a closed warehouse. We kept working areas contained, cleared as we finished, and handed windows back in a state that could take inspection from the street. The standard is the same one we use on other hotel and external window packages in London: sound overhaul, Repair Care where the timber needed it, even decoration, and no leftover damage on the elevation below.
The package was window overhauls, Repair Care timber repairs and decoration at The Wellington Hotel for Ellmer Construction. That is the job.
We are CHAS and SSIP accredited and 100% RIDDOR-free.
